Robert Clatworthy
Robert Clatworthy sculpture for sale
Robert Clatworthy, R.A. [b.1928] - We specialise in the work of this artist and have sculpture, paintings, drawings and prints for sale.
He studied at the Chelsea School of Art and the Slade, and joined the Hanover Gallery straight after leaving art school in 1952, showing alongside Francis Bacon, Giacometti, Picasso, Germaine Richier and Arp. Clatworthy moved to the Waddington Gallery, London in the early 1960s where he showed with great success. His work is included in many important collections including the Tate Gallery, who own 2 of his sculptures. Robert Clatworthy is represented by this gallery, he is a very underrated artist, mainly due to his unwillingness to play the art market game. As a sculptor of animals, Robert Clatworthy is probably the best ever. As a sculptor of heads and figures, he is one of the best, but his work requires time to fully appreciate it - a commodity seemingly in short supply these days.
