Douglas Portway [1922-93] - we specialise in paintings by this artist. He was born in South Africa and moved permanently to the UK in 1967, living in St.Ives. His many one-man shows worldwide included the Venice Biennale [1956], Drian Gallery and Gilbert Parr Gallery. Public collections include the Tate Gallery and V&A. We buy and sell Douglas Portway paintings. There are many books on Douglas Portway paintings, the first by J.P.Hodin. Most of his paintings were done in oil on paper and a few oil on canvas. A very original, much underrated artist.
