Reg Butler [1913-81] - was one of the best known sculptors during the 1950s/60s after winning the 'Unknown Political Prisoner' competition in 1953. His many one-man shows included several at the Hanover Gallery, Gimpel Fils [London] and Pierre Matisse Gallery [New York]. A major retrospective exhibition was held at the Tate Gallery in 1983.
